On Sunday 9 Nov 08 I was visiting the grave of my Great Great Uncle,Pte Walter Arbuckle of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who is buried in Grave I.D.1 at Becourt Military Cemetery and I noticed a wreath on another grave.

It was the grave of Pte Maurice Hinchon. I noticed that his family had placed a plaque with a photo of Maurice and also an email address to contact them.

I emailed the address and was delighted to receive a reply from Maurice’s relative. This is exactly the kind of thing I had hoped would happen and it will be great to stay in touch with his family and swap information and stories with them.
